Hello, and welcome to the first edition of the Lake Foundation blog! We would like to take the opportunity to share a bit about who we are, what we do, and what is to come.
Who We Are
The Lake Foundation is a mental health nonprofit with strong NEPA roots, comprised of professionals who work and reside in NEPA. Our focus is simple – build strong, resilient communities through positive psychology, public education, and free-to-low-cost wellness activities.
What We Do
All our events are designed to strengthen our communities and facilitate access to the tools, connection, and support needed to thrive. Some of our ongoing events include:
Positive Pages, our monthly book club, is held at the Albright Memorial Library in Scranton on the first Wednesday of each month from 6-7pm. Each month we select a book with a mental health focus and invite group discussion and reflection. This is an open meeting, and folks are welcome to join at any time!
Nurture in Nature, our monthly nature walk, is offered in conjunction with Countryside Conservancy at their Trolley Trail in Clarks Summit, PA (starting at the Roz Peck Trailhead). Join us for one of our upcoming walks on August 31 and September 26 at 11am.
Two of our annual keynote events, both in their second iteration, include Purse-suing Mental Health, a designer purse bingo, which will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Clarks Summit Fire Company from 12-3pm, and Unmasking Mental Health, a masquerade and fashion show contest, which will take place in February 2026.
You can learn more about all our events here on our website and on any of our socials, including Facebook and Instagram (TikTok and YouTube coming soon!).
